The Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, Louisiana, is known for its rich history and infamous hauntings, making it a hotspot for paranormal enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Here's a brief overview of the plantation's history and some of the reported hauntings.
History of the Myrtles Plantation:
The Myrtles Plantation dates back to the late 18th century when it was built by General David Bradford, a prominent figure in early American history.
The plantation has changed hands several times over the years and has been used for various purposes, including as a private residence, a working plantation, and eventually as a bed and breakfast.
The name "Myrtles" is derived from the crepe myrtle trees that adorn the property.
Hauntings at the Myrtles Plantation:
Chloe: One of the most famous legends surrounding the Myrtles Plantation is that of Chloe, a slave who was reportedly punished for eavesdropping by having her ear cut off. Seeking revenge, she poisoned the family, resulting in their deaths. Chloe's spirit is said to still wander the grounds.
Children Spirits: The spirits of children have been reported playing on the veranda and in the surrounding areas. Some guests claim to have heard the laughter of children when no children were present.
William Winter: Another famous ghost at the Myrtles is that of William Winter, a former owner of the plantation. Legend has it that he was shot on the front porch and managed to climb the stairs to the 17th step before succumbing to his wounds. Some visitors report seeing his ghost climbing the stairs or hearing his dying footsteps.
Other Manifestations: Guests and staff have reported various other paranormal occurrences, including unexplained footsteps, doors opening and closing on their own, cold spots, and ghostly apparitions.

The STORY of Suzie is as follows:
In the murky shadows cast by The Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana, a tragic tale of a little girl named Suzie unfolded. Suzie's life was cut short near the haunted grounds of the plantation, her innocent spirit left adrift in the whispers of the past. But fate had other plans for her restless soul.
A daring paranormal investigator, drawn by the legends surrounding The Myrtles, ventured into its haunted halls armed with a doll—a trigger object to bridge the gap between the living and the dead. Little did the investigator know that Suzie, yearning for companionship, would seize this opportunity to attach her essence to the doll.
Returning from the plantation, the investigator unwittingly brought back not just a doll, but a vessel now housing Suzie's spectral presence. Ghostly occurrences began to unravel in the investigator's home—a chilling reminder of Suzie's untimely end and her lingering presence. Shadows danced in the corners, whispers echoed in the silence, and a sense of melancholy hung heavy in the air, like a veil of sorrow.
As the investigator grappled with the unsettling manifestations that now plagued their once-peaceful abode, a bond formed—a connection forged between the living and the dead, born of empathy and shared sorrow. Despite the eerie disturbances that tested the investigator's resolve, a sense of duty emerged—to help Suzie find peace and a new, loving home where she and her doll vessel could find solace.
With a heavy heart and a flicker of hope, the investigator resolved to seek out a sanctuary where Suzie's spirit could finally find rest, breaking free from the spectral chains that bound her to the haunted past of The Myrtles Plantation. A place where her laughter could ring out freely, her presence could be felt without fear, and where the love and care she craved in life could be bestowed upon her in death.
